Torres del Paine tour reviews

Reviews

I’ve guided in Torres del Paine for twelve seasons, and these are my honest reviews of the six tours this site compares: what each day actually involves, who it suits, and where it falls short. If you only read one, start with the full-day tour review — that’s the tour I point most first-timers at. If you already know you want to hike, go straight to the Base of the Towers review.

How I rank them

Simple: I match the tour to the person, not the other way round. Most visitors have one day and no appetite for a 22 km walk, so the easy full-day tours rank first. The hikes rank on what you get for the effort. And where travellers complain — the Grey Glacier boat’s logistics, the short viewpoint stops on the flagship — I say so in the review rather than talk around it. Prices and inclusions for all six are side by side on the cost page.

The reviews

Not sure which review to open? My best-tour verdict page compares all six in one place, and if hiking is off the table entirely, see Torres del Paine without hiking.

Frequently asked questions

Which Torres del Paine tour has the best reviews?

Three of the six sit at 4.8 on GetYourGuide. The full-day tour from Puerto Natales has the largest number of reviews behind that score, which is why it leads my ranking — the details are in the full review.

Are these reviews independent?

Yes. I’m a guide in Puerto Natales, not a tour operator, and I don’t sell tickets. The site earns a commission if you book through GetYourGuide links, at no extra cost to you — the affiliate disclosure spells it out. The negatives stay in the reviews either way.

Why does the Grey Glacier boat rate lower than the others?

It sits at 4.5 while the day tours sit at 4.8, and the gap is almost entirely logistics: the boat leaves from inside the park, there’s no transport from Puerto Natales, and boarding means a walk across Grey beach. The sailing itself reviews well — see the full review.

Which tour should I avoid?

None of them are bad tours; some are bad matches. If your knees, your flight schedule or your fitness say no to a 22 km day, skip the Base of the Towers hike and take a day tour instead — you still see the towers, from the Laguna Amarga viewpoint.
